Freyja Pet Cowl Crochet Pattern

Special Notes:

  • There are 2 sections to the design.  The Shawl and the Cowl
  • The shawl height may need to be adjusted depending on your pet’s body size.  Too many R4 repeats may cause the shawl part to be too long.
  •  The cowl width may also need to be adjusted depending on your pet’s neck circumference.
  • There are special instructions for the cowl circumferences below.

Shawl

R1:  ch 2, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) all in 1st ch 1. turn

R2:  (alt ch 2 or ch 3, 2 dc) all in same st.  dc in next 2 sts (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) all in ch-3 sp.  dc in next 2 sts, 3 dc in last st.  turn

R3:  (alt ch 2 or ch 3, 2 dc) all in same st.  ch 1 *ts rep until ch- 3 sp (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) all in ch-3 sp.  triad st until last st.  3 dc in last st.  turn (6 ts)

R4:  (alt ch 2 or ch 3, 2 dc) all in same st.  *ch 1, ts st over next 3 st, ts into next ch-1 sp of previous row, in next st, and in next ch-1 sp of previous row.  rep from * until last dc before ch-3 sp, sk next st.  (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) all in ch-3 sp. ch 1 *ts rep until last dc.  3 dc in last dc. turn (10 ts)

Rep R4 until your shawl measures 2” 6” 8” 10” across the turning rows of shawl or until you reach your desired size.

Each Row will increase by 4 triad stitches

Note:  the shawl measurements below are for ½ the circumference of your pet’s neck.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Cowl

Cowl Circumference:

Cowl Height from bottom point of shawl:

  Step 1:

sc evenly across turning rows

Note:  you may need to measure your pet’s neck to reach your desired circumference.  The stitch count below may need to be adjusted.

Step 2:
It might be a good idea to check your chain count before you start R1, you may need to adjust the chain count below to fit the circumference of your pet’s neck.

ch 13 (25, 36, 48).  sl st in 1st st to join.

R1: ch 4, *ts around, being sure to go into the ch as well.  sl st in ch 3 of the ch 4 to join.  do NOT turn
