Rugged Slopes Cowl Crochet Pattern

Jo’s Crafty Hook Designs is bringing you another free crochet pattern, the Rugged Slopes Cowl.  The Rugged Slopes Cowl Crochet Pattern has a matching hat, the Rugged Slopes Messy Bun & Beanie which you can find here on my website.  Just like the Rugged Slopes Beanie crochet pattern shown on my website the size offered below is size Small Adult.

This page contains affiliate links.  You can make a purchase using these links that I provide where I may receive compensation (at no added cost to you.)  Purchases you make will help keep my website, Etsy Shop, and my Ravelry Store going and provide quality designs just for you!

The Rugged Slopes Cowl also uses the Sedge Stitch, which is a new stitch I learned not that long ago.  I love learning new stitches and I hope you do too!  I currently learned how to do the Celtic Weave, the Crunch Stitch, the N Stitch and more.  This year has opened so many new things that I never tried before.  You can read more about some of the new things I have tried here on my website.

If you are like me and have Scoliosis, Depression, Anxiety this is the perfect crochet pattern to take your mind off of your troubles.  Crocheting always seems to calm my worries and gives me a sense of hope in creating something for someone to love!

If you are wanting to crochet a larger size you can find the Rugged Cowl Crochet Pattern at my Ravelry Store here or at my Etsy Shop here.  I hope you enjoy the Sedge Stitch as much as I have, so let’s get started!

Hi, I’m Crystal, the designer and blogger at ChristaCoDesign.com. I love creating easy and beautiful designs for the family. I have 4 little ones so when I’m not crocheting or knitting I’m usually enjoying them.
The design I’m sharing today was created using tapestry crochet techniques to achieve the heart shapes-photos included to help you along. The Sweetheart Hat comes in 7 sizes-baby though child. Personally I love the gray/green version I made for my son.  I hope you enjoy the pattern and are able to share your Sweetheart Hats with those you love.

Here is what they have to say:

I just LOVE that all of my features guests are from all around the world.  Another featured fiber artist is Sarah from Rich Textures Crochet.  I met Sarah on Instagram, falling in love with her designs!  Let’s see what Sarah has to say and bring out the link to her Sweetheart Cowl.
Hi!  My name is Sarah from Rich Textures Crochet! Thank you so much for stopping by, and a big thank you to Jo for allowing me to visit today! I was born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada, but am now residing in Rural Southwestern Ontario.  I am a wife and a mom to four energetic children and an equally energetic border collie.
In crochet I love to play with texture.  I also love to learn new stitches and play with colour, although in my crochet I tend to gravitate to more earthy tones.  My favourite crochet hooks are wooden and I love to work with super bulky weight yarn.
On my blog you’ll find a mix of patterns, from afghans to baby blankets, hats, mitts, scarves and cowls such as the one featured here for Valentines Day.  I’m so glad you stopped by and I look forward to connecting with you on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube! Happy Crocheting!

Below you can hop on over to Sarah’s blog post about her design:

For the last but not least featured artist for the Blog Hop is Catherine Venner of Crochet Cloudberry.  Below you will meet Cat and find the links to her Hygge Heart Cushion Cover and the discounts she is giving for here pillow cover.  So with out further ado, meet Cat:

My name is Cat and I absolutely love crochet. I picked up a hook for the first time a couple of years ago and have never looked back. With in weeks of learning to crochet, it became an obsession and I started spending every spare minute with a hook and some yarn. Sound familar?

Over time, I started developing my own patterns and ideas of what can be made using crochet techniques. In 2019 I made a new year’s resolution to start my own crochet blog to share tha patterns that I have devised as well as the ideas behind them.

The hygge heart cushion has been inspired by scandi cosiness. As a student I spent the summers living and working in Denmark and so I became familar with the concept of hygge and wanted to bring it into my designs. The Danes frequently use the heart motives in their handicrafts and using self-striping yarn adds to the hygge effect.

For the Valentines promotion – I am submitting to you the Hygge Heart Cushion Cover. I have set up a 20% discount code in Etsy and Ravelry for it. It runs until Feb 16th and starts today. The code is “BEMINE2020”.
You can hop over to Cat’s blog post she wrote about her Hygge Cushion Cover: https://crochetcloudberry.co.uk/crochet-journal/hygge-heart-cushion-cover/
You can also hop on over to Cat’s blog post about this Valentine’s Day Blog Hop: https://crochetcloudberry.co.uk/crochet-journal/valentines-day-blog-hop/
I want to thank all of the fiber artists who joined me for my very first blog hop, the Valentine’s Day Blog Hop 2020!  I want to thank you, the readers as well!  Be sure to Hop on over to all the websites listed above so you can crochet their loved designs for your loved ones!
Happy Valentine’s Day and Happy Crocheting!

One of my favorite designs is called the Flower Cluster Beanie or Lilac Beanie.  I am so Excited to be sharing this design with you and to be doing another CAL (Crochet A Long) with one of my designs.  The Crochet A Long will be held inside of our Facebook Group Crochet A Long with Us here.  The CAL will start January 2, 2020 and will run until January 5, 2020.  Be sure to grab you an Ad-Free PDF version here and join me and over 5000 members in doing my Flower Cluster Beanie!

I am so excited to be sharing this pattern with you for a number of reasons.  The main one is that I looked at a store bought hat and was able to create a crochet pattern from it!  Another reason is that it is a Beautiful design and a Great Beanie! lol  The last reason is the flower clusters look like Lilacs, which is my ALL time favorite flower.  I just LOVE their smell!

Flower Cluster (Lilac) Beanie

My son found a hat and gave it to me last year.  When it was taken out of storage this past winter I was like “I NEED to copy this pattern!”    I took a real good look at it and wanted to see if I could crochet it because it said on the label “Crocheted.”  Well I finally worked out a pattern and I hope you love it as much as I do!

At the first of the year I was asked to join a Facebook Group, called the Patchwork Mystery CAL.  The Patchwork Mystery CAL started April 15, 2019 and lasts until July 7, 2019.  Below you will find the Patchwork Mystery CAL Schedule which will be 12 weeks long.  Also at the end of the schedule I talk about crochet giving you hope!

The Facebook Group consists of me and 11 other fiber artist designing a 12″ x 12″ Square for their mystery CAL.  All of the designs were to be and are to held a secret until each artist’s Square is revealed.  Also when we were creating our square there had to be a meaning behind the design.  Therefore each of us 12 fiber artists have a story to tell when our Square is published.

Learn to Tunisian Crochet Online Class at Annie’s

The purpose of the group’s 12 squares is to create an amazing work of art by joining the 12 squares and creating an Afghan.  The creation of the Afghan has you joining 3 Squares across by 4 Squares long.  You can arrange your 12 squares any way you prefer or join them in the order of the CAL.

Even though it is week 2 of the CAL, you will have plenty of time to join us and crochet a Square.  Today is the release of Square #2.  I will be adding to this post weekly, as the next fiber artist’s square is revealed.  So if you have want to join our CAL you can do so here.  Check out the Announcement section of the group for ALL the information you need to start crocheting your Squares!  Also, be sure to subscribe to my email list and you will receive the next Patchwork Mystery Square when it is released!

1 – Find out the design of the new Square each week!

2 – Also, find out every week the story behind the design of each artist’s Square!
