Holden Infinity Scarf Crochet Pattern

The Holden Infinity Scarf Crochet Pattern is a design for an infinity scarf for men and women, boys and girls alike.

The scarf works up quickly because it uses the Extended Double Crochet giving you a longer stitch.  It also works up quickly because the design uses short rows.  You can customize the scarf easily creating the perfect fit for everyone.

Information Needed

I used Caron One Pound Acrylic Yarn in 2 colors. #4 ply Worsted Weight Yarn.  (16 oz/454 g) (812 yds/742 m)

Materials:
MC – 250-300 yds of #4 ply Worsted Weight Yarn
CC – 250-300 yds of #4 ply Worsted Weight Yarn
US J Crochet Hook or 6 mm
Scissors
Tape Measure
Tapestry Needle

Stitch/Abbreviations:
st = stitch
ch = chain
fsc = foundation single crochet
edc = extended double crochet
alt ch 3 = alternate chain 3
sl st = slip stitch
YO = Yarn Over
MC = Main Color
CC = Contrasting Color
RS = Right Side
WS = Wrong Side

Special Stitches:
Extended Double Crochet – YO, insert hook into st, YO, draw through 1st loop on hook, YO draw through 2 loops on your hook, YO and draw through last 2 loops on your hook.

Notes:
ch 4 counts as an extended double crochet.
alt ch 3 counts as an extended double crochet.
Sizes are for Teen/Small Adult, Medium Adult, and Large Adult consecutively.
Due to different thickness of yarn, you may need to go up or down a hook size to meet Gauge.

Gauge:
US J or 6mm Crochet Hook
12 st x 4 rows = 4”

Gauge Swatch:
R1:  ch 15, edc in 4th ch from hook, edc across.  ch 4, turn. (12 edc)
R2-R4: edc in next 11 st.  ch 4, turn. (12 edc)

Holden Infinity Scarf Free Crochet Pattern

Using MC

R1 (WS): fsc 15 (18, 21). turn (15, 18, 21 fsc)
Optional: ch 16 (19, 22), sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc across. turn (15, 18, 21 sc)

R2-R40(44,48) (RS):  alt ch 3 or ch 4, edc across.  turn (15, 18, 21 edc)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Using CC

R41(45,49): attach yarn with a sl st in 1st st, alt ch 3 or ch 4, edc across. turn (15, 18, 21 edc)

R42(46,50)-R80(88,96): alt ch 3 or ch 4, edc across.  turn (15, 18, 21 edc)

R81(89,97): ch 1 and turn after last row worked, sc in each st across. (15, 18, 21 sc)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail of yarn to sl st 1st and last row closed.

Closing the Scarf

Step 1:
Lay RS of the top of the scarf to the RS of the bottom of the scarf

Step 2:
Mattress Stitch through each st until the end.

You can use whatever stitch you prefer to close the scarf’s ends together.

Fasten off and weave in ends.
