Boxy Bulky Cowl Crochet Pattern

Boxy Bulky Cowl Crochet Pattern

The Boxy Bulky Cowl Crochet Pattern uses a thicker yarn, 6 ply bulky yarn to create a nice thick, heavy cowl to keep you warm during those chilly times of year.  It uses a stitch I designed just for this cowl, the triple crochet box stitch.  The stitch I designed creates a nice long stitch to create a beautiful texture.

Below you will find a free version of the Boxy Bulky Cowl Crochet Pattern.

Pet Bandana Free Crochet Pattern

Pet Bandana Free Crochet Pattern

Today I want to share with you the Pet Bandana Free Crochet Pattern.  Doesn’t my Maze look beautiful wearing her bandana?

Pets can seem like our babies and part of the family.  You add accessories to your outfits and your family’s outfits, so why not accessorize your pet as well with the Pet Bandana.  Use your scrap yarn and make these in every color of the rainbow.  The pet bandana free crochet pattern has 3 sizes you can choose from.

My beautiful kitty, Maze was a rescue.  My son worked in a factory that used heavy machines and equipment.  My son knew how much I loved animals, so he called me upset telling me what happened and asked me to take her in because she was starving.

My hubby wasn’t too happy with me at the time, As soon as he seen my son holding her his heart melted and he fell in love with her!  Maze is more his cat than mine, but she is loved and appreciated just the same.

My Maze, and I am sure your pet too, brings me so much comfort and joy.  She curls up in my lap and as soon as I touch her, my heart just melts.  I pray your pets sooth you as they burrow into your hearts as well.

Freyja Nordic Necklace

The Freyja Nordic Necklace Crochet Pattern is one of those crochet patterns that you can customize from what it was originally designed for.  A little farther below you will see it how my testers customized theirs using thinner yarn for a person’s necklace; or used for a Hat Band; or used for a Wrist Band; or used for a Cat & Dog Necklace using both DK Weight and Worsted/Aran Weight Yarn.

So, why not even try different thicknesses of yarn to make yourself one!  You will find a free crochet pattern of the Freyja Nordic Necklace below.

The Freyja Nordic Necklace Crochet Pattern came to be because my son loves anything to do with Norse History.  That is why he named his dog Freyja.  Ever since she was a puppy I loved to dress her up.  My son even started asking me to make things for Freyja lol.  So I decided to design something that relates to Nordic History and Freyja’s name.  This is how I came up with this design.

Freyja Pet Cowl Crochet Pattern

Special Notes:

  • There are 2 sections to the design.  The Shawl and the Cowl
  • The shawl height may need to be adjusted depending on your pet’s body size.  Too many R4 repeats may cause the shawl part to be too long.

  • There are special instructions for the cowl circumferences below.

Shawl

R1:  ch 2, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) all in 1st ch 1. turn

Rep R4 until your shawl measures 2” 6” 8” 10” across the turning rows of shawl or until you reach your desired size.

Each Row will increase by 4 triad stitches

Note:  the shawl measurements below are for ½ the circumference of your pet’s neck.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Cowl Height from bottom point of shawl:

sc evenly across turning rows

Note:  you may need to measure your pet’s neck to reach your desired circumference.  The stitch count below may need to be adjusted.

Step 2:
It might be a good idea to check your chain count before you start R1, you may need to adjust the chain count below to fit the circumference of your pet’s neck.

ch 13 (25, 36, 48).  sl st in 1st st to join.

R1: ch 4, *ts around, being sure to go into the ch as well.  sl st in ch 3 of the ch 4 to join.  do NOT turn

Last year the Getty Museum challenged people to recreate famous works of art. The results were sometimes amazing, sometimes hysterical. I decided to try my own recreation using crochet. Turns out, one of the biggest challenges was finding a famous painting that looked easy enough to duplicate in yarn but still appealed to me visually. I wanted something colorful to cheer me up on these dreary days. Settling on one of Van Gogh’s sunflower paintings, I rummaged through my yarn stash to find the appropriate colors.

Lilac Cluster Stitch

I created this crochet stitch when I designed my Lilac Cluster Beanie and Lilac Cluster Cowl crochet patterns.  The original version of the Lilac Cluster Stitch is worked in the round.  You can find both of these crochet patterns at my Ravelry or LoveCrafts Stores.

Lilac Cluster Stitch Video Tutorials

The Lilac Cluster Stitch uses 2 main crochet stitches, the FPDC3TOG or the front post double crochet 3 together and the FPDC6TOG or the front post double crochet 6 together.

You can find a Left Handed Video Tutorial on my YouTube Channel for my Lilac Cluster Beanie Part 1 and Part 2, that shows you how the Lilac Cluster Stitch was originally used.

I always wanted to use the lilac cluster stitch in a design that works in rows.  The first crochet pattern I tried with the Lilac Cluster Stitch with rows was the Oyster Shell Scarf.  I loved using this stitch in rows so much that I had to make another crochet design with this crochet stitch!

You can find the Oyster Shell Scarf as a free crochet pattern on my website.  You can also purchase an AD-Free premium copy from my Ravelry or LoveCrafts Store for a small fee.

Transforming Your Passion Into a Profitable Business

Owning your own business can be a rewarding endeavor, but it can also be a lot of hard work. The good news is that turning your hobby into a business is an achievable goal if you take the right steps. Today, Jo’s Crafty Hook will discuss how to get started and some of the finer points of turning your hobby into a profitable business.

Business as a Part-Time Pursuit

Turning your hobby into a full-time business takes time, effort, and capital. Before you make such an investment, start small by launching your business as a side hustle. This involves setting aside time from your day job to work on building your business during evenings and weekends. This allows you to test out different aspects of running a company without committing too much upfront money or time.

Defining Your Business Strategy

Creating an effective business plan is key for any entrepreneur. It helps define goals for the company, establish strategies for achieving them, and provide benchmarks for measuring progress along the way. Writing up a comprehensive plan also gives potential investors an idea of what to expect from the venture before deciding whether or not they want to invest in it financially.

Crafting an Effective Advertising Plan

After finalizing your business plan, it is crucial to formulate a powerful marketing plan that can attract potential customers. A well-crafted marketing approach can help you identify which target market to focus on and how to generate the most substantial Return on Investment (ROI). Leverage modern digital marketing tactics to optimize your reach, increase visibility and engagement, and drive sales.

Creating a Digital Footprint for Your Business

In today’s digital landscape, an established online presence is a critical aspect of any successful business or entrepreneurship. Building a professional website and social media profiles, such as LinkedIn, can help potential clients get an accurate sense of your brand identity and offerings. Ensure that all important information about your business and product or service is readily available online to foster greater brand awareness and customer trust in your brand.

Sourcing Capital for Your Business

Securing sufficient capital is crucial for financing your business operations until profitability can be attained through your offerings. Depending on the nature of your venture, various funding options may be available. For instance, crowdfunding campaigns on platforms like Indiegogo and Kickstarter provide a means for entrepreneurs to reach out to potential customers who want to support their project financially in return for exclusive perks and access.

Doing Business Online

To cultivate a loyal customer base, it’s essential to make purchasing products or services online as seamless and secure as possible. By utilizing a robust ecommerce platform, businesses can offer secure payment processing solutions that alleviate customer security concerns. If you’re thinking about investing in reliable commerce solutions, this may help not only yield greater sales but also help to foster a sense of trust between the business and its customers, which is invaluable for long-term success.

It’s vital for aspiring entrepreneurs who are turning their passions into profitable businesses to take the necessary steps and precautions to ensure their dreams are realized. With proper planning and preparation, the journey of becoming a successful business owner can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience. By following the steps and recommendations outlined above, aspiring entrepreneurs can set themselves up for success and make their dream a reality. With hard work, perseverance, and a bit of luck, anyone can turn their hobby into a thriving business with the right tools and resources.
