Gram-Mae’s Purse

Gram-Mae’s Purse Crochet Pattern

My Gram loved crocheting flowers. In the Gram-Mae’s Purse crochet pattern I will be using one of the flowers my Gram designed and I created a crochet pattern for, the Mae’s Flower.

History behind the Design

The design came about because I have had an Afghan my Gram started over 25 years ago using a flower she designed.  In 2022 I finally decided to take one of her flowers apart from her Afghan.  I wanted to see how she made it so I could finish her Afghan.

Because I loved her flower design so much that I decided to create the Maes Flower crochet pattern.  I was able to finish my Gram’s Afghan.  Also, my Gram’s Afghan was so easy to put together, that I decided to create another crochet, which I then turned into the Mae’s Flower Garden Afghan crochet pattern in honor of my Gram.

You can find the Mae’s Flower Crochet Pattern that I designed using these flowers free HERE on my website.

You can also find an Ad-Free copy of the Mae’s Flower crochet pattern at my Ravelry and LoveCrafts Stores.

Van Gogh’s Sunflowers Crochet Pattern
My Fingers Fly

Last year the Getty Museum challenged people to recreate famous works of art. The results were sometimes amazing, sometimes hysterical. I decided to try my own recreation using crochet. Turns out, one of the biggest challenges was finding a famous painting that looked easy enough to duplicate in yarn but still appealed to me visually. I wanted something colorful to cheer me up on these dreary days. Settling on one of Van Gogh’s sunflower paintings, I rummaged through my yarn stash to find the appropriate colors.

Cocoon with Beanie Crochet Pattern

Information about Snuggle Bug Preemie Baby Cocoon and Beanie Crochet Pattern below.

With the cocoon being part of this scrap busting event, I used 5 different crochet stitches for each part.  I used:

Half Double Crochet
Herringbone Half Double Crochet
Feather Stitch Stitch
Half Double Crochet in the Back Loop Only
Braided Puff Stitch

Notes:

The Cocoon is worked in the round.

Some rounds of the Cocoon will have turning rows.

There will be a color change for each type of stitches used.

Due to different stitches used in each color block the Gauge will be different due to types of stitches used.

Each designer uses a different technique for their Puff Stitches, so the Right Handed Video Tutorial may be different from how the Special Stitch instructions for the Puff Stitch are written.

The Braided Puff Stitches are created using a 2 row repeat using my version of the Puff Stitch.

Placing a SM in 1st st of every round keeps a nice even st and it helps you not lose your place when going into the next round.

There are Left and Right Handed Video Tutorials inside the Snuggle Bug Preemie Baby Cocoon Crochet Pattern.

Size:
8” x 13”

Materials:
300-500 yds of #4 Ply Worsted/Aran Weight Yarn
US H Crochet Hook or 5 mm
Scissors
Tapestry Needle

The baby cocoon can be customized using the Gauge below.

Gauge:
US H Crochet Hook or 5 mm
16 hdc x 8 rows = 4”

You can find the premium copy of the Snuggle Bug Preemie Cocoon with Beanie Crochet Pattern at my Ravelry Store and LoveCrafts starting January 19, 2023.

Here is a little bit of information on the Shelly Crop Top to help you decide if you would like to do the Shelly Crop Top crochet pattern.

The Shelly Crop Top is the newest crochet pattern in my Wrapped in Love Line eBook of crochet patterns.  All of the crochet patterns inside the eBook can be found in one place, at my Etsy Shop JosCraftyHook here.

In designing the crochet pattern I used Lion Brand Mandala yarn when crocheting my crop top.  You can use any 3 Ply Lightweight yarn or DK weight yarn.  I used an I crochet hook or a 5.5mm hook.

The crop top is crocheted as one piece.  You start from the bottom and crochet up to the top, working in the round.  The crop top is seamless.  The only sewing involved is of the front and back straps.  The cool thing about the straps is that the pattern repeats in the straps design.

There is even a Video Tutorial in my YouTube library that shows you how to do the repeat rows that make up the crop top.  If you check out the Video Tutorial please Subscribe to my YouTube channel.  You will be notified when I create more designs, helpful tips and more.  You can Subscribe here.  You can find the video tutorial here.

Be sure to stop back by Jo’s Crafty Hook where you can find FREE crochet patterns, Roundups, and latest designs that you can find on my website!  Thank you for stopping by Jo’s Crafty Hook and reading about my newest design the Shelly Crop Top!  If you have any questions about the Shelly Crop Top or anything else, you can email me at jo@joscraftyhook.com.
